RDA to Develop Rawalpindi Master Plan for 25 years

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) chairman, Saif Anwar Jappa, has announced that the authority is preparing a master plan for the district for the next 25 years in collaboration with the local government.

He stated that separate areas would be allocated for housing schemes, industries, and central business, and that housing societies and industries would not be allowed outside of these designated areas.

As per the details, the Chairman stated that in accordance with government directives, agricultural land would be protected to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

A senior official of RDA shared that this slow pace of work has allowed developers of private housing societies to construct without any hindrance.

He also criticized the authority for failing to regulate private housing societies in the district, stating that due to their indifferent attitude, developers were able to finalize housing schemes without fulfilling necessary formalities.

He also stated that under the law, private housing schemes were required to install sewage treatment plants, water purification systems, and arrange for water supply in their respective areas, but that there were no housing schemes in the district that meet these requirements.
