Inauguration of New Gwadar International Airport rescheduled

The inauguration of the New Gwadar International Airport, scheduled for September 2023, has been pushed to June 2024.

Reports indicate that the delay stems from the late arrival of airport equipment and technology from China to Pakistan, with these goods expected to reach Gwadar by sea later this month.

Situated 26 kilometers northeast of the existing Gwadar airport, the new airport project was allocated 3,000 acres of land by the Pakistani government. Similar to the new Islamabad Airport, the Gwadar Airport is Pakistan’s second greenfield airport.

Once operational, Gwadar Airport will have the capacity to serve various aircraft, including ATR 72, Airbus (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747), catering to both domestic and international routes.
