CDA Islamabad to launch new housing control agency to deal with property complaints

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will set up a dedicated building and housing control agency in Islamabad to address property-related complaints.

The decision was taken in the seventh meeting of the CDA board chaired by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Tuesday.

To protect public investment, the board decided to publish the names of illegal housing societies on the CDA website and through media channels.

Chairman Randhawa also directed the officials to upload a zone-wise list of legal housing societies, so that citizens can verify the legality of the society before investing.

To maintain accountability, the CDA board approved hiring a consultant for third-party audit of all ongoing development projects. This move is part of the authority’s internal accountability mechanism to ensure transparency in project implementation and financial management.

Key aspects of the new housing control agency:
  • Addressing property complaints:
The agency will be responsible for handling complaints and resolving disputes related to property matters in Islamabad.
  • Combating illegal societies:
The agency will focus on identifying and addressing issues related to illegal housing societies, providing a list of approved and illegal societies for public reference.
  • Boosting transparency:
The CDA will implement measures to improve transparency in the real estate sector, including publishing a list of approved and illegal societies.
  • Protecting public investments:
By addressing illegal activities and improving transparency, the agency aims to protect public investments in the real estate market.
  • Streamlining processes:
The agency will work on streamlining procedures for obtaining approvals and addressing complaints, making the process more efficient and accessible for citizens.
