The Rashakai SEZ, launched by the Prime Minister Imran Khan in May 2019, is the first CPEC industrial cooperation flagship project.
Concession Agreement between KPEZDMC and Chinese developer corporation has been signed in April 2019.
Development agreement has been signed on 14th September, 2020.
Groundbreaking of the SEZ is planned during the high-level visit of Chinese President to Pakistan.
Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ), located near M-1 Nowshera, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), links to CPEC through Burhan Interchange on M-1 and Swat Expressway on Karnal Sher Khan Interchange connecting Dir, Chitral and Shandur to RSEZ.
The 1000 acres land of RSEZ will be developed in three phases. The total area designated for Industrial use is 702 acres and as per Federal SEZA Regulations, of which 159 acres will be developed in Phase I, 279 acres in phase II and subsequently 264 acres in Phase III. For commercial use, an area of 76 acres has been allocated.
It will create thousands of employments, stimulate the local economy and boost the export enormously.
Industrial Potential:
The following industrial clusters/sectors are proposed/planned:
- Garment and Textile Products
- Home Building Materials,
- General Merchandize
- Electronics and Electrical Appliances
- Automobile and Mechanical Equipment
Licenses, permits, NOC, registration, and taxes would be deregulated in 16 different sectors to promote investment and boost industrial development, stated by Taimur Salim Jhagra, Minister for Finance KPK.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has established an industrial facilitation center (IFC) at the Rashakai economic zone to provide services to industrialists and keep liaison with the relevant departments under one roof.
