The court ordered to check records and audit all private housing societies after registering them according to the Companies Act. It should be ensured that all transactions of housing societies of Rawalpindi be made through banks, the letter stated.
Consumer Court Judge Abdul Hafeez, has sent a letter to the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) chairman and director general, cantonment boards and municipal corporations chief executive officers (CEOs) along with district council chairmen.
In this regard, RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi said that the court order will be implemented in letter and spirit and added that public wealth would be protected at all costs.
He added that no housing society would be able to sell any plots other than the ones on their maps and would be sealed if the orders were disobeyed.
Abbasi further said, the forensic audit of all residential colonies under RDA has started which was close to completion and added that any report of irregularity or corruption would be referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Moreover, The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) would make all out efforts to complete computerization of its record in three months as the Authority had started the work on the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division/Director General RDA Joudat Ayaz.
According to RDA spokesman, Director Admin and Finance, Rao Atif Raza had directed all the RDA Directorates to complete the task within three months.
The computerization of records will also help citizens in getting record of their property to ascertain its status before finalizing a sale agreement, he said.
He informed that the RDA was taking practical steps to facilitate the residents and all information about RDA would be available at RDA’s official website.
In order to facilitate citizens, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was also uploading approved Layout Plans of legal housing schemes on RDA’s website.
Director RDA, Jamshaid Aftab talking to this agency informed that out of total 31 housing societies approved in the jurisdiction of RDA, 21 had been uploaded while remaining were under process and would be uploaded soon.
It is a great facility for the citizens enabling to check location of the plots online even from foreign countries, he added.
RDA was pursuing strict policy to control illegal housing schemes in its jurisdiction and letters were sent to all the departments concerned including State Bank of Pakistan, District Collector Rawalpindi, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Police, Utility Service departments, DG PEMRA and Advertising companies in an effort to save the citizens from any fraud, he added.
He informed that the status of the housing schemes was updated and all legal and illegal schemes were uploaded on RDA’s website.
He advised the public not to invest in illegal housing schemes and to select commercial or residential plots only in legal ones which have proper approval of layout plans and NOC from the authority.
To a question he said, 42 housing schemes in Rawalpindi District were approved including seven in District Council area, four in Tehsil Murree area.
