The construction work of Dadocha Dam (close to DHA Valley) has begun formally, informed district government spokesman on Friday.
A ceremony was also held in this regard, he said. He added Assistant Commissioner (AC) Saddar Mehar Ghulam Abbas Haral, SDO of Small Dams Organization and other officers attended the ceremony, reported by The Nation.
Following the orders of City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas, a heavy contingent of police was also deployed to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain law and order situation.
FWO has already mobilized construction teams alongwith machinery to execution site.

Dadocha dam is expected to generate 35 million gallons of water supply for Rawalpindi residents as well as to those residing in the surrounding areas once contructed. The dam is anticipated to be completed in two and a half years.
The dam would have the capacity to contain a total of 60,000 acre-feet water, 15,000 acre-feet will be its dead level storage capacity, and it will have 45,000 acre-feet of live storage capacity. The water inflow to the dam is estimated at 77,000 cusecs while the outflow at 42,000 cusecs. The total cost of construction of the dam is anticipated to be Rs6 billion.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water Resources directed the concerned authorities to pay compensation amount to the affectees of Dadhocha Dam according to the market rate.
The Standing Committee was informed that initially, it was decided to acquire 18500 Kanal of land. However, now the Government has decided to acquire 16000 Kanal of land for Dadhocha Dam.
The Standing Committee was apprised that the Government is acquiring most of the land at the rate of Rs. 65000/- per Kanal and some lands at the rate of Rs. 95000/- per Kanal, by force. The Standing Committee directed that the affectees of Dadhocha Dam be paid compensation against their lands and the buildings as per market rate, and report be submitted to the Committee before the next meeting.
